The 10 Wedding Destinations in Spain with the Lowest Risk of Rain (Based on Actual Data)

If your number one priority is to avoid rain on your wedding day, the most important decision isn't the date—it's the destination. There are cities in Spain where the statistical probability of rain between June and September is practically zero, and others where it rains one out of every two years during that time. Here is the objective ranking based on 5 years of real data.
We analyzed more than 120 Spanish cities using the Weddings.help, adding the day-by-day probability of rain during the peak season months. These are the 10 destinations with the lowest risk.
How we created this ranking
For each city, we calculated the average probability of rain between June 1 and September 30 (the period when 80% of weddings in Spain take place). This data is derived from looking at how many years out of the last 5 it rained on each specific day of the period, and then calculating the average.
Important note: low probability of rain ≠ good wedding destination. Almería is the driest city but also one of the hottest; that has its pros and cons. The ranking focuses solely on rainfall—the final choice depends on your style, your budget, and your venue.
Top 10 wedding destinations with the least rain in Spain
The Spanish semi-desert. Minimal risk of rain all summer. Cabo de Gata offers unique photo opportunities. Downside: intense dry heat in July–August.
A sure bet from May to September. Dreamy courtyards, palaces, and estates. Downside: in July and August, temperatures can exceed 40°C—look for evening celebrations.
A top destination for weddings with international guests. Coves, estates, sea breeze. Downside: premium prices during high season.
Costa del Sol — perfect Mediterranean climate. Wide variety of venues (beach, estate, city). Good airport connectivity.
One of the islands with the most historic estates converted into venues. It combines rural landscapes, coastline, and city life within close proximity.
Unbeatable connectivity, nearly unlimited selection of providers. Very dry summer. Best month: September.
The perfect balance between beach, countryside, and city. Watch out for the cold snap at the end of September.
Costa Blanca, plenty of sunshine, relaxed atmosphere. The beaches and coves offer unique visual backdrops for photography.
Córdoba's patios as unique venues. Few venues but full of character. Extreme heat in July-August.
Murcia offers great weather and significantly lower prices than the Costa del Sol or Mallorca. Underrated.
Extra tips for choosing your destination
- • The north gets a lot of rain but is much more comfortable temperature-wise. If you get married in July in Galicia, it doesn’t rain lightly—but your guests won’t be roasting either.
- • Consider accessibility for your guests. A dry destination that can only be reached by plane can reduce attendance by 20–30%.
- • Check the historical forecast for your EXACT date, not just the month. Two dates in September might have a 0% and 40% chance of rain.
- • Use the comparison tool. Our city comparison tool shows you two destinations side by side for the same date.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the driest wedding destination in Spain?
Almería is the city with the lowest statistical probability of rain in summer (~4% in July–August), followed closely by Seville and Ibiza.
Is getting married in the north much more likely to result in rain?
Yes. Galicia, Asturias, and the Basque Country have a 3-4 times higher probability of rain than the Mediterranean coast in the height of summer. In exchange, temperatures are more comfortable and the landscapes greener.
Which destination combines low rainfall and mild temperatures?
Ibiza, Mallorca, and the Costa del Sol are the best options: low rainfall in summer + a sea breeze that tempers the heat. Seville and Madrid are dry but very hot.
