Why normal weather apps fail you

Why 7-day forecasts don't work for weddings

Planning a wedding takes months. Waiting for the week before only creates last-minute panic without solutions.

Standard Weather App (7-Day)

Only warns 7 days ahead (and shifts hourly)

  • Creates panic 3 days before the wedding.
  • Gives useless monthly averages ("20°C in May").
  • Ignores nighttime drops that chill guests.
  • Zero Plan B action steps or tent guidance.
Outcome: Unnecessary stress and costly last-minute fixes.
Weddings.help 30-Year Climate Engine

Plan 12 months ahead with audited historical data

  • Real mathematical probability based on ~450 observations.
  • Night temperature insights (jacket decision).
  • Exact astronomical golden hour for bridal photos.
  • Automated Plan B guidance (tents, fans, alerts).
Outcome: Total peace of mind backed by historical facts.

Why this matters: regular weather apps aren't calibrated for wedding dates. Our engine ensures that published percentages match real historical frequency.

Daytime & Night Temperatures

Ensure guests stay comfortable all day and night

It is not just about rain. Knowing if you need jackets at midnight or shade during the afternoon is critical for planning:

7 in 10

Exact hit on daytime temperature (within ±3 °C)

8 in 10

Exact hit on night temperature (jacket decision)

±2.3 °C

Average margin (smaller than sun to shade difference)

☀️

When warning about extreme heat (over 30 °C), we hit 7 in 10 times. Perfect to arrange fans, parasols, and hydration stations.

Detailed weather methodology (for analytical minds)

We use NASA POWER (MERRA-2 / IMERG), with real daily data from 1996 to 2025. For each city and date we look at the 15 days centred on that date across all 30 years: about 450 measurements. The percentage of those days that exceeded 1 mm of rain is the number we publish.

To check accuracy we use leave-one-year-out validation: we recompute each day's probability using only the other 29 years, then compare it with what actually happened that year. Testing on the same data used to build the prediction would prove nothing.

We don't publish an overall "hit rate" because it would be misleading: since rain is uncommon, always answering "no rain" would be right 67.1% of the time on these Saturdays while saying nothing useful. The right test for a probability is whether it holds up, which is what the table above shows. Technically, the Brier skill score against using the regional average is 23%, and the average gap between what we say and what happens is 0.6 percentage points.

What we changed: until 2026 we computed the probability from just 5 years, counting any 0.1 mm record as rain (dew included). That model was off by 11.7 points and could show 80% rain for dates where it actually rains 14% of the time.

We count a day as "rained" at 1 mm or more. Temperature measured over 270,928 Saturdays. Last updated: 31/07/2026.

Wedding weather FAQ

How do you know if it will rain on my wedding day months in advance?+

We don't use long-range forecasts (they aren't reliable beyond 10 days). We use historical data: we look at what the weather actually did in your city around that date across 30 years. That gives a solid statistical probability — and we publish how far off we are.

What exact data will I see?+

Average, maximum and minimum daily temperature, expected millimetres of rain, precipitation probability, how often nights drop below 18 °C, sunlight hours and golden hour for photos. Year-by-year breakdown plus the 30-year normals.

Can I check the weather for my honeymoon too?+

Yes — with Wedding Pass you unlock the multi-destination planner: add each stop of your trip with its dates and we'll give you the historical weather for every city, plus an automatically generated packing list based on the conditions at each location.

Is your data reliable?+

Yes. We work with 30 years of real meteorological records per city and date. It's not a forecast or a monthly average. We also check our own probabilities against what actually happened afterwards and publish the result.

Is it free?+

Yes. Looking up historical weather for any city on any date is completely free. Wedding Pass adds extras like the honeymoon planner, packing organizer and integration with the rest of your wedding plan (website, guests, budget, etc.).
